A week for weddings
I have had a very varied week this week. It's not been quite as hectic as some previous weeks, but still enough to keep me busy.
Monday I did all my baking and buttercream then I had to start and prepare for a cake for tomorrow. I made a lot of gold hearts. Lustre dust everywhere as usual
Then I had a few deliveries arrive for future projects. These all had to find places to live.
Tuesday I did this four layer 7" chocolate cake, with vanilla buttercream and cherry jam filling. Yum. It was frosted a pale pink and decorated as the client's request with mixed white sugar pearls and gold hearts. Finished off with a personalised topper. This cake had been postponed from earlier in the year.
Wednesday morning I made a trip in to Northend to return the layout book for the magazine I did last week. Then on to supplies shopping, just two shops this week so not too bad, then I had to return something that had arrived damaged so made a trip to the post office.
Then I did a crumb coat for a cake for tomorrow. I should have been doing a cake for this afternoon but the lady asked if it could be rearranged for Friday instead so I made these cute little mushrooms for a future order.
Thursday I delivered this very bespoke wedding cake to a beautiful venue, Wortley Hall. It was a three layer 8" chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream filling and chocolate ganache frosting, fondant iced to look like a trampoline with comedic sugar models of the bride and groom laid on the top. I had fun doing this one. I would have loved to have seen the couples face when they saw it. I got a message later from the bride to say how much they had enjoyed it.
I came back and dusted some flowers for a cake on Saturday, made a few more decorations for future orders and started writing this blog.
Friday, two cakes today, the first was the rearranged one from Wednesday, a two layer vanilla 7" cake decorated in the popular drip cake style for a SWFC fan. Finished with lots of chocolates and a personalised blue topper.
Then this pretty marbled lilac and pale pink frosted chocolate cake, with purple drip and topped with chocolates and personalised pink topper. I love the colours on this cake.
I managed to get a couple of hours in the garden, which I have to say isn't looking its best just now, more of a building site, as Alex is rebuilding the pond and paths after our discovery of an underground spring running underneath last year.
Saturday, the second wedding cake of the week. This was a very simple but elegant design. The colour scheme was sage green. It was a 3 layer vanilla with buttercream and strawberry jam filling, coated in white chocolate ganache then fondant iced white. Sugar flowers and names around the board to decorate. Finished off with a pretty sage green ribbon. This was delivered to Aston Hall Hotel. Another stunning venue.
Sunday a day off, we are looking after my dads parrot Freddy for a few days while he's away next week and when he dropped him off we all had a nice roast dinner.
Can't wait for next week!
